Fondazione Città della Speranza Onlus (FCdS) has been active since 1994, fundraising to create a new and modern Oncohaematology Pediatric Clinic in Padua, which is linked to the most important research centre in Italy and worldwide and, thanks to the support of the FCdS, is the national centre of excellence for the diagnosis of acute leukemias and the molecular characterization of lymphomas and sarcomas.
In 2012, FCdS built the largest research centre on Pediatric diseases in Europe, the Institute of Pediatric Research (IRP) Città della Speranza, which has been supported by FCdS since and that currently hosts more than 300 researchers.
IRP is a world-leading research institute, home to reference laboratories for pediatric medicine and scientific research.

Through a multidisciplinary approach, the Institute brings together the expertise in biomedicine, bioengineering, biochemistry and material sciences. It also works collaboratively with national and international University Hospitals and Research Institutes, providing an exceptional training environment in pediatric research to students and researchers, promoting innovation and technology transfer and also facilitating the dialogue with the public through conferences and outreach activities.
FCdS and IRP have experienced an important development and growth in the last whatever years, thanks not only to the partners and investors, but especially to the researchers who, with dedication, make this challenge possible every day, solely in order to improve living conditions or prospects of healing children. The knowledge accumulated represents the final goal of a necessary journey that will bring us from benchside to bedside.
