How to best organize your wardrobe

Make the best use of the spaces you have available: the more space available, the more accessories to insert!
Our custom-made wardrobes can be configured up to a maximum height of 294 cm and will allow you to make the most of the entire height of the room, leaving only 1 cm of height tolerance for assembly. This means that if the room has a height of 276 cm, the height of the wardrobe can be set to 275 cm, thus managing to use the greater space available.


If possible, always set up a wardrobe with standard depth of 61cm
Most of the pull out accessories (trouser racks, tie racks, pull out shelves) are only available with a wardrobe depth of 61 cm. Plus accessories such as tie racks, trouser racks and shoe racks are only available for modules 89 cm wide. If it is not possible to maintain a standard depth of 61 cm, in order to be able to insert drawers and be able to make the best use of the clothes hanger rods, we recommend maintaining a depth of at least 52 cm.

How many shelves should one put inside a wardrobe?
The quantity of shelves that can be inserted inside the wardrobe can vary based on the use you want to make of it. However, it must always be taken into account that our shelves have a thickness of 35 mm. The shelves can be positioned at any height: the side panels of the wardrobe in fact have pre-drilled holes every 32 mm which allow the shelves to be positioned at the desired height.

In a wardrobe with a height of 246, we recommend inserting a maximum of 5 shelves to have a space between one shelf and another of approximately 36 cm. Possibly, if the wardrobe were to be used as a shoe storage, a maximum of 7 shelves could be planned to obtain a space between the shelves of approximately 26 cm.

Here is the indicative calculation to define the space between one shelf and another:

Space inside the wardrobe = wardrobe height (eg. 246 cm) – top and base thickness of 11,5 cm – total thickness of the shelves (eg. if there are 7 shelves with a thickness of 35 mm, the space they occupy will therefore be 24.5 cm —> 7×3,5cm).
The available height will be 210 cm.

Available height : compartments inside the wardrobe (with 7 shelves there will be 8 compartments).
210 : 8 = 26,2 cm
With a total of 7 shelves, the height of each compartment will therefore be approximately 26 cm.

This calculation does not take into account the position of the hinges. Consequently, if the hypothetical mounting position of the shelf should be occupied by a hinge, the shelf will have to be positioned a little higher or lower. Before positioning the shelf supports, it is recommended to mark the position of the door hinges with a pencil.

Classic clothes rails or dresses lift?
If the wardrobe is very high, the dresses lift is certainly an intelligent solution for easily accessing clothes. However, even with the help of a telescopic hanger gripper, access to clothing is very simple.

When choosing, we recommend also considering whether you have a tendency to completely fill the rail with clothing as excessive weight could affect the correct functioning of the dresses lift (maximum capacity of 12kg).

The ivory and brown-lacquered clothes rails occupy a very small height (approximately 7cm)
while the dresses lift instead has a height of about one metre. The tubes in ivory or brown finish compared to the chrome finish have a greater seal and a higher quality.

CHESTS OF DRAWERS

How much space does a chest of drawers take up?
A 2-drawer chest of drawers with its closing shelf occupies approximately 36 cm while the 3-drawer chest of drawers occupies approximately 53 cm. The chests of drawers can be positioned directly on the base of the wardrobe or a shelf can be used to position them at a higher level.


Drawers inside the wardrobe or chest of drawers to be placed in a corner of the room?
Drawers are generally useful and perfect for storing especially underwear, socks and scarves.
We are often asked whether it is better to place the drawers inside the wardrobe as an accessory or to order a separate chest of drawers instead. It all depends on the room: if the room is small, it is generally preferable to use a chest of drawers inside the wardrobe. However, when the bedroom is large and spacious, a separate chest of drawers is the most practical solution because it allows direct access without having to first open the wardrobe doors.
